Best iPad Stylus
Being an artist, I've tried just about every stylus known to man, and it seems like I was always on the hunt for the perfect stylus for iPad. And then I discovered the Griffin stylus, which is now my stylus of choice (at least until a better one comes out). FYI, I found out that the Griffin is actually the exact same stylus made by Boxwave and Targus (they just put their own brand name on it, so anyone who says Griffin is better than Boxwave is full of $@*# because they're the same thing).
As far as my history with other iPad stylus goes: I originally started using the Pogo Sketch, but it was too skinny, required too much pressure, and eventually fell apart. Then I moved onto the Dagi stylus for iPad, which was much better because it was ultra-precise and had the transparent tip so I could see what I was sketching. But after using it a while, I just found it way too awkward for my wrist to constantly be forced into an angle that was unnatural. So I finally found the Targus/Griffin/Boxwave and ended up buying the Griffin version on eBay because it was the cheapest (you can get the Boxwave version on Amazon or you can get the Targus stylus at your local Best Buy). The Griffin stylus works better than Dagi and Pogo hands drown. The rubber tip is high quality and precise, it feels nice in your hand, and it's easy to carry around. All around it's the best stylus for jotting down notes and sketching on your iPad.
I have a Boxwave ($15 on Amazon) and I think it writes beautifully, but if you want to see for yourself, here's a great video that compares writing samples using the Dagi, Boxwave, Pogo Sketch, and Touchtec stylus.
I was using a Pogo Sketch iPad stylus (like the rest of the world) and it served it's purpose well for a loooong time. Then one day, for no particular reason, I wanted to change things up a tad, so off I went to the land of Amazon and bough myself a shiny new Targus stylus. Although it's not perfect, but it's the better than the Pogo stylus. Here's how they compared:
The Targus stylus is shorter and wider than the Pogo stylus, which I don't like, but the rubber tip of the Targus is way better than the crumble-prone tip of the Pogo Sketch. It's way smoother on the iPad screen. I definitely prefer the Targus, but wished it was a little taller like a pen, and slowly tapered off at the tip so I could have more precise actions. Then it would be perfection!
I recently replaced my Pogo with the Just Mobile AluPen stylus for Ipad. It kinda reminds of a giant metal version of those little miniature golf pencils. It's the only stylus shaped like this, with the hexagonal sides, which makes it very ergonomic for holding in your hand, as if your writing with a real pen. All the other stylus have round sides, which is more slippery for me. It's also made of aluminum so I know it won't be breaking anytime soon. The tip of the AluPen is a rounded rubberized material that is much more rigid than the capacitive foam material used on the Pogo. So overall, I'm very happy with my decision to ditch the Pogo for the Just Mobile.
